We are delighted to announce the shortlist for the inaugural Cymera Prize for Speculative Short Fiction, in partnership with Shoreline of Infinity.
Out of over 40 submissions, our judges had the very difficult decision to narrow it down to a shortlist of three. So here they are:
From the 14 to 17 year old writers
The Creature by Daniel McConnachie
The Woods by Cleo Luna
Life and Death by Simon Ezra-Jackson
From the 18+ submissions
Echo Chamber by Lyndsey Croal
The Weavers by S.A.M. Rundell
A Letter South by Beth Nuttall
The winning story in each category will be announced on Monday 27th May 2019.
You will be able to read the winning stories in Issue 15 of Shoreline of Infinity, or come along to hear them read out loud at the Event Horizon on Saturday 8th June 2019.
The runner-up stories will be available to read on our website after 9th June 2019.
We’d like to say a big thank you to everyone who submitted a story to our competition – we really enjoyed the great variety of stories we received, and we hope you will keep writing!
