At Christmas, everyone enjoys the thrill of a ghost story. This year, we wanted a science fictional ghostly tale to scare the bejeesus out of us. You did not disappoint. Our judging panel of English students from Edinburgh University were highly impressed by all the submissions, and yes it was hard to choose from them all. But they did, and we’re delighted to announce the Top Ten Stories:
Call Me — Dane Divine
Christmas Overtime — Sadie Maskery
Dvina’s Daughter — Leigh Loveday
How the Orchard Became Haunted — Ben Blow
Into the Abyss — Ibrahim Lakhanpal
Max Iterations One Thousand — Anna Ziegelhof
Mother — Gary Tinnams
The Christmas Spirit — Barbara Preslier
The Reminder — Ida Keogh
You Are in a Room — David Lawrie
Well done to you all!
The judging panel then went on to select the top three stories and pick a winner. The top three will be announced on Sunday 28th November at our first live, in the Flesh event, in Edinburgh at the Assembly Roxy in Edinburgh as part of Cymera at the Roxy.
Do come along if you can and enjoy an evening of music, stories, poems, drama and bad jokes in our world famous sci-fi cabaret, Event Horizon. The winning story, XXX XXX XXX will be read on the night.
