Issue 18 of Shoreline of Infinity Science Fiction Magazine
will be a
BAME (Black, Asian, and minority ethnic) special edition
to be published in June 2020.
Come on you writers, you seers of visions, send us your stories and shine!
Shoreline of Infinity is based in Scotland, traditionally a country that is welcoming to everyone. We are no different here at Shoreline of Infinity HQ.
For this call we are emphasising our ongoing search for stories from around the world, from different cultures, different viewpoints — perspectives that are new to us.
Wherever you are on this planet (or elsewhere? we can hope), if you’ve got a stunning science fictional or speculative tale which pushes the imagination onwards and outwards, we want to see it. We want to welcome it, give it a place to be.
Translated stories are warmly welcomed if not published in English.
What we are looking for
First, we strongly suggest you read a copy of Shoreline of Infinity to see the kind of stories and poems our readers like. You can download a copy or order a print copy from the Shoreline Shop.
For more ideas about the kind of stories and poems we want see fiction submissions and poetry submissions
Length
A maximum of 6,000 words for stories, up to 5 poems per submission.
Submissions for the BAME issue are open until 8th March – submit only via the form available through the button below.
What we Offer and Rights
Stories: we offer £10/1000 words
Poems: print edition of issue
We retain the right to continue selling back issues of Shoreline of Infinity and Shoreline anthologies containing your story (royalties are paid for republishing in collections).
For original stories or poems, or for reprints published in another language, we buy first digital, print and audio world rights in English, but your rights are returned to you after 6 months of original publication (digital or print), and you are free to publish how or wherever you like. However, it would be splendid if you could acknowledge first publication in Shoreline of Infinity. We also ask for audio rights.
What to Submit
We accept simultaneous submissions, but do tell us immediately if you want to withdraw a submission. Submit a neatly formatted manuscript set in Times 12 point and double spaced in Microsoft Word format ( doc/docx). Please use the submission process here – emailed manuscripts will be ignored.
Submit only one story, or one poetry submission.
Response Time
We will reply as soon as we can after your submission, but do contact us if you have not heard by the end of April. We know what it’s like to be kept waiting, but we are only human (mostly).
We received a large number of submissions for each call, so please be patient!
